Changing climate significantly affects monsoons and rainfall in such as South-East Asia - resulting in flooding in areas where flood were not historically seen, and drought in periods where water is critical for crops. The objective of this project is to make and offer a service where users can obtain updated objective information for a particular region and country. Main challenges involve developing a cost-efficient data acquisition pipeline and creating novel processing algorithms to reliably generate flood maps in complex urban areas and accurate water levels in reservoirs. The challenges will be solved by trade off studies performed on the alternatives of data sources, combined with the cost of storage and pre-processing, and review of existing scientific publications, selecting candidates for methods, and then comparing the historic results to ground truth data obtained for key regions in SE Asia (Thailand).
