The AMTEC initiative is set to merge the advancements of several distinct research areas, aiming to create a sustainable and innovative approach to material development and additive manufacturing (AM) processes. The project will focus on establishing an AM value-chain for aerospace components, aiming to improve performance and reduce environmental impacts. Additionally, it will advance novel structural steels, enhancing operational efficiency and minimizing carbon footprints of their processing steps for the AM applications. Furthermore, it will integrate proprietary and cutting-edge sensors towards optimizing the AM and turning the processes into a less wasteful and more environmentally friendly practices. This integrated initiative will tackle material innovation, process optimization, and sustainability, with the goal of strengthening the EU's technological sovereignty and supporting the transition to green and digital economies in sectors such as renewable energy and transportation.
