Network- and broadcast operators will typically have a mix of legacy- and modern infrastructure equipment. A video service forwarded to e.g a broadcast distributor may include many audio tracks (background, commenting, various languages). Modern equipment supports the latest standards for transmission of video and audio in an efficient and easy way to operate and combine selections of tracks to forward to the end customer. The challenge arises in networks combining modern and legacy equipment. A flexible and user-friendly way of mixing audio tracks that can be received in a variety of configuration, from new- and legacy equipment, and combining them into new audio output combinations is needed. Introduction of an Advanced audio mapping solution to the Appear X-platform, will enable the network operators to do exactly this.
