Lyso-phospholipids: product development and optimalization

Marine phospholipid supplements have shown a positive impact on human health and offer a substantial and expanding market opportunity within the Norwegian marine sector. For instance, omega-3 phospholipids have been identified as the preferred molecular structure of omega-3 fatty acids for effective absorption in the brain. Nonetheless, challenges in concentrating these phospholipids, sensory issues relating to taste and smell as well as and optimizing production efficiency have hindered the industry from fully capitalizing on this market potential. The current project aims to create and manufacture enhanced krill-derived products intended for human consumption. These products will be tailored to contain specific phospholipid species abundant in omega-3 fatty acids, addressing the existing limitations in the field.
