Pharma Holdings AS is a privately owned biopharmaceutical company with offices in Oslo and Tromsø, Norway. Pharma Holdings AS develops novel drugs for treatment of microbial (bacterial, fungal and virus) infections. LTX-109 is the lead compound. It is an investigational antimicrobial drug with a novel membrane/envelope-lysing mechanism of action. The drug has an unparalleled rapid bactericidal and virucidal activity. Pharma Holdings is in the process of developing a treatment as a measure against respiratory viral infection. The primary objective in the project is to make the newly developed drug product eligible for a First in Man Clinical trial mid 2024. This will be achieved by: - conducting two animal studies - conducting a distribution study - Seeking regulatory advice from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) on the pre-clinical and clinical development The new drug formulation is intended to be tested in clinical trials as treatment for upper respiratory infections (Covid-19 and Influenza). If Pharma Holdings manages to generate clinical results that document that use of LTX-109 results in reduction in severity of disease and/or shortens duration of disease, a huge and lucrative market will open for the nasal spray product.
