Long term follow up of ovarian cancer patients treated with ATX-101 in combination with chemotherapy

APIM Therapeutics is currently developing ATX-101, an investigational anti-cancer agent based on a novel mechanism of action highly relevant for cancer escape and resistance. In preclinical studies, ATX-101 shows single agent activity and potentiation of the action of several anti-cancer agents, including platinum-based chemotherapy, across multiple tumor indications. After successfully completing preclinical development, ATX-101 has been tested in a first-in-human phase 1 clinical study in advanced cancer patients. The study has proven the excellent safety profile of the drug and provided indications of clinical activity in patients. In a subsequent phase 1b study conducted in ovarian cancer patients, ATX-101 dosed in combination with platinum based chemotherapy for 6 months, was shown to be safe. Furthermore, the combination showed clinical activity. In this project, the company is aiming to evaluate long-term effects of the treatment in the cohort of 16 patients already dosed in the phase 1b study. The study will therefore assess the progression free survival of patients for a period of up to 20 months. The planned study is expected to further validate the company's novel therapeutic approach and catalyze future clinical development of the specific ATX-101 combination in this cancer indication.
