Offentlig prosjektsammendrag
RESMAN has become an Energy Technology Company and new focus areas have been Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Geothermal Energy. In the present project, challenges connected to optimal production from geothermal reservoirs are focused. Geothermal reservoirs may have a large variation in temperature. World-wide, there has been a growing interest in Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS). Unlike conventional hydrothermal, EGS is apparently feasible anywhere in the world, depending on the resource depth. Good locations are typically over deep granite covered by a 3–5 kilometre layer of insulating sediments that slows heat loss. Temperatures can be as high as 450 C and water, which is at a supercritical state above 374 C and 218 bar, will behave very differently from water under conventional conditions. To optimize energy production from these reservoirs, information about fluid flow direction, reservoir volume and temperature profile are important. The project aims at developing tracers that survive such conditions, and which will behave in a predictable way under injection, in the near-well region, in the reservoir and under production in HT geothermal reservoirs.
