The paint and coatings industry has traditionally been divided into two types of coating systems: solvent-based and water-based systems. The former, belonging to an older realm of coatings, has relied on the use of organic solvents, raising environmental and health concerns that are often associated with solvent-based coatings. Despite water-based coatings offering numerous advantages, such as reduced VOC emissions and a lower carbon footprint, they still face challenges in reaching the high-quality standards set by solvent-based coatings. One particular challenge is the development of water-borne additives that can deliver the same level of quality in the dry film as their solvent-borne counterparts. Recognizing the growing importance of environmental concerns, sustainable development, global supply, and secure access to raw materials, the Dynoadd additives group understands the need to be more flexible in addressing these issues, which are critical for our businesses. To address these challenges and opportunities, our project aims to develop the production of water-soluble polysiloxanes, which will play a crucial role as additives for water-borne paints and coatings. This transition will not only meet the increasing global demand for water-soluble additives in the rapidly growing market of water-borne coatings but also demonstrate our commitment to environmental responsibility. By embarking on this innovative venture, Dynoadd aims to contribute positively to the industry's sustainable development while maintaining the highest standards of product performance and customer satisfaction.
