InkyPen is creating new underlying technology necessary for a ‘direct to consumer publisher in a box’ setup. The concept here is to pre-integrate a large variety of systems such that instead of creating a bespoke system each time, publishers can use InkyPen’s systems to launch a state of the art system at a fraction of the cost it would take to normally do so. The project is aimed at research and development of new state of the art systems in image transmission as well as workflows to create a system that easily allows publishers to sell their direct to consumer digital and physical books with minimal fuss. Current solutions require users to log into many systems to launch a single book both physically and digitally (google apps, iOS, payment systems, warehouse management systems etc.). InkyPen will replace the need for logging into all of these with a single unified experience whilst also providing a technology allowing publishers to easily create websites and phone applications to publish their books. In doing this InkyPen will overcome research challenges and acquire unique knowledge of how to create new datamodels and state of the art image technologies necessary for delivery.
