Offentlig prosjektsammendrag
Heat is the largest energy end-use in the world, accounting for half of global final energy consumption. The heat is produced almost entirely from fossil fuels contributing to ~40% of the global CO2 emissions. Around 50% of the global heat consumption is used for industrial processes and it is an urgent demand for solutions that make the industry reconfigure their need for fossil fueled generation and enable decarbonization of industrial heat. Kyoto Group aim to capture and manage the abundant energy from variable renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power and apply it to reduce the CO2 footprint for industrial heat demand. Our energy storage solution, Heatcube, allows electrification of industrial heat demand at a low cost. The aim is to deliver net zero process heat for the industry through a thermal battery which offers energy storage and heat generation in one product. The Heatcube enables industrial players to phase out todays fossil fuelled boilers/heat generators and eliminate CO2 from their production processes. Through this R&D project we will be able to offer to the market a commercially attractive solution for decarbonisation of industrial heat for a wide variety of customers.
