Systems are becoming increasing complex with more software inside. Increasingly, these systems are having also artificial intelligence (AI) inside. The risk acceptance criteria these systems need to met are normally unchanged by the introduction of the AI. However, assuring them with AI inside is a new problem. How do we translate acceptance criteria on system level down to the relevant acceptance criteria for the AI part? And how do we assure that the AI meets these acceptance criteria? The AI will have completely different failure modes than conventional systems. And understanding and explaining the performance of AI is difficult in itself. And some of the systems failures can be emerging only on system level, making the process of assuring the total system a big challenge. In our project we address these challenges and develop a recommended practice for assurance of AI-enabled system
