Businesses and governments are following ever more far-reaching regulations on the UN Sustainability Goals (SDG 17). When selecting products and qualified suppliers, compliance with the new regulations for sustainable procurement is costly and complex. NorgeDigital Prosjekter AS is a Telemark-based tech startup whose mission is to solve this problem by developing a global B2B marketplace for sustainable industrial products. In an R&D project, we develop an AI-based product recommendation solution to digitize and accelerate the purchasing process of sustainable industry products and materials. Complex specifications, constantly changing regulatory requirements, and lack of supply chain transparency are the biggest hurdles for green procurement. Tender platforms and product marketplaces often do not consider the critical sustainable features. This gap makes it a big challenge for buyers and suppliers. With our solution, it will be possible to reduce the selection process of sustainable products and materials from many weeks to a few days or hours.
