Today millions of hours, human resources, and NOK are spent to produce documents of different forms. The knowledge economy is founded on document-based interactions – core processes are based on, and carried out through documents, and productions of documents may also be the intended end product. Improvement of document-based interactions can have tremendous impact on the knowledge economy. Particular important documents is the request for information (RFI) and request for quotation (RFQ), which is the cornerstone of all market economy transactions of a certain size. Responses to RFI's or RFQ's mark the beginning of a long and laborious process. Despite being digitalized, the majority of RFI and RFQ processes are based on manual procedures characteristic of analogous RFI and RFQ processes rather than exploiting the potential of ICT in general, and artificial intelligence (AI) in particular. AI can serve many functions, for example providing data mining and business insights, simplifying interpretation of data, predicting outcomes, automating simple operations, automating complex operations, offering real-time assistance, minimizing errors, discovering risks, increasing business efficiency. All of these functions can significantly improve the document process lifecycle. With this project, the consortium aims to redefine the document process industry through developing an intelligent integrated solution for the entire RFI and RFQ document process lifecycle. This lifecycle involves processing RFIs and RFQs from the time they enter the systems of the organization until the completed production of response.
