Operators in the broadcasting and video distribution industry continuously seek to optimize their systems and networks to allow for more services and higher technical quality on their services. Transport of video signals from event sites, like sports arenas, to a broadcaster studio, or between studios, etc, must be efficient, both in terms of system operation and power consumption (watt/service), and with lowest possible delay. Private IP networks are typically used for this transport. Appear AS provides flexible and scalable solutions to this market. The products have gained a lot of attention due to its capacity and efficiency. With more 4k video material (4k referring to video resolution, also called Ultra High Definition TV) being transported to or between studios, the need for even higher capacity is increasing. With this project Appear is significantly increasing the capacity of its product platform to transport light compressed 4k video, within the same equipment space, by more than 400%. The increased capacity will also allow for transport of uncompressed UHD video services. Power consumption per video service at maximum load of the product, will be reduced to less than half to that of the already energy efficient current Appear solution.
