The R&D project aims to provide the scientific basis and the required innovative developments to enable a decentral identity data platform which provides Identification, Authentication and Signature services based on SSI technology. The platform ambitions to demonstrate with developing a digital infrastructure that creates and manages digital identities on behalf of the IDENTITY HOLDER, issues verifiable credentials on behalf of the IDENTITY ISSUER and provides services to verify identity claims on behalf of the RELYING PARTY. But in contrast to centralised infrastructure, this platform enables businesses and their customers to use identity information in a more secure and compliant way, which also allows the user to have full control of his own data. The project should demonstrate that the combination of a new Key Management governance, the use of Blockchain technologies and the secured wallet (device) is scalable and adaptable to different use cases, like the citizen ID and the Health ID. The project aims also to provide trusted SSI digital infrastructure with low cost and in a userfriendly way. The platform achieves this by bundling all essential new security functionalities resulting from a paradigm shift of move identity data from centralized data repositories to decentral repositories with the user’s premises. Protectoria’s innovative authentication system – called Protectoria Secure Mobile Platform (PSMP) – a patented display protection mechanism that will make sure that the user can always rely on the information displayed on the device. The combination of this fundamental security IP and the platform solution to be developed will create a fully secure ecosystem based on trust. In short, the project will demonstrate the benefit of the SSI technology and that digital infrastructure can be offered with this technology.
