Combined pulling, Cut &Jack’ (TITAN) with Vibration (RS) and Clean-up in one trip, jacking and vibration tools for stuck casing removal. The equipment and services are used for well intervention, mainly the recovery of old casing strings from wells that are to be plugged back for sidetracking, this has s become an increasingly challenging activity. The time spent removing the casing strings can be very time consuming, barite sagging from the well fluids is believed to be the cause of the massive forces experienced when attempting to recover old casing strings. The need to reuse unproductive slots is an ongoing challenge for customers on the Norwegian continental shelf. The TITAN RS one trip system can clean down to the top of a stuck casing stump before impacting high pulling loads up to 650t. If the casing is unable to be recovered with high static forces the system can be switched to allow resonant vibration to assist in freeing the casing string, the vibration or resonance can reduce the friction factor between the settled barite and the casing wall and the stresses within the barite itself thus reducing the pulling forces required. A selectable cutter in incorporated to allow for additional cuts to be completed to ensure the longest sections of casing are recovered. Recovery of longer casing sections and the removal of a dedicated clean-up trip removes trip in the well and reduces the time to complete the slot recovery making the recovery of slots far more cost effective and the reduction in carbon emissions assists with the reduction in greenhouse gases.
