Preclinical development of an AVX compound towards a treatment for Chronic Kidney Disease

Coegin Pharma’s core competencies originate from decades of basic research conducted by Professor Berit Johansen’s group at NTNU investigating the importance of Coegin Pharma’s therapeutic target, cPLA2a. Based on the detailed understanding of the underlying biology and its implication in several diseases, Coegin Pharma is focusing on the development of small molecule therapeutics targeting cPLA2a in selected inflammatory diseases and cancer. The main objective of this project is to develop one of Coegin Pharma's portfolio compounds towards a treatment for chronic kidney disease and fibrosis. The formulation work will develop an oral formulation for systemic delivery of the active compound, and the preclinical development phase ahead is designed to take the lead compound into GLP-toxicology testing in two species, GLP documentation, GMP manufacture, and receive regulatory approval for first-testing-in-man.
