TDW Offshore Services has more than 20 years of experience as a market leader in supplying the offshore pipeline market with non-intrusive isolation services through the SmartPlug® product. The benefits of non-intrusive isolation methods are many, vs conventional methods that includes intrusive isolation methods (hot tapping and plugging) or temporary full decommissioning and subsequent re-commissioning. Quick and effective interventions provided through inline, non-intrusive double block & monitor isolations, without leaving any fitting(s) on the line or eliminating the need of bleeding down and inert purge an entire pipeline or system of pipelines, provides significant reduction of intervention time, saves cost, reduces complexity of operations and reduces the adverse effects on the environment through elimination of venting of hydrocarbons to the atmosphere. Based on a long track record of successful isolations in the offshore market, TDW OS has a goal of developing this technology through significant improvements in several key areas into a new product, adding it to an already large product portfolio, and which will also be the basis for an entirely new product fleet. This technology will then enable all the benefits of inline, non-intrusive isolation methods which is well known to the offshore pipeline market, to also be available for the owners and operators of onshore (transmission) pipelines, which have been requested by several major operators in this market for a long time, and should become the preferred and selected solution wherever an intervention into a pressurized pipeline system is needed.
