Offentlig prosjektsammendrag
The proposed project aims to develop an electronic inflow control device (E-ICD) with associated simulation software and work processes. The original ICD was developed in 1992 and was a considerable technological advancement for its time. However, nearly 30 years since the ICDs inception, there have been substantial advancements in potentially useful technology to further develop the ICD concept. Advancements in electronics, wireless connectivity, compact power units, and more powerful simulation capabilities allow us to develop a product that takes the initial ICD concept much further in form of functionality and efficiency. The simulation aspect of the product utilizes predetermined models along with logging while drilling (LWD) data to map the wells expected inflow profile. The E-ICD uses wireless connectivity on the platforms deck (prior to installation) in order to adjust valve settings to give each E-ICD an independent and predetermined inflow characteristic as a function of its position in the wellbore. When installed in sequence, the E-ICDs give the well a more optimized inflow profile, choking exactly where determined necessary to suppress water and gas production where expected, as well as being set to its most open settings in oil dense, low productivity zones. Since the E-ICD adjustments are carried out on the deck, prior to installation, there is no added complexity or risk compared to a standard ICD solution. Preliminary case studies show that the E-ICD can increase production revenues by up to 10% compared to the standard ICD solution. Flowpro Control will generate revenues through sales of the E-ICD hardware, as well as our accompanying simulation services. Flowpro Control is using its experience and knowledge of ICD technology, simulation experience, and mechanical design in close cooperation with highly qualified subcontractors who assist in specific areas of development.
