Development of feed for recirculation facilities (branded: Altra)

Aquaculture is growing globally, and the aqua feeds needs to be adapted and optimized in order to ensure a sustainable and competitive industry. Land based farming comes with several new challenges; a need for extremely high pellet quality, minimum nutrient leaching and faeces quality that allows fast removal from the tanks. The nutrient profile of the feed must be optimized for fish at higher temperatures and faster growth rates. The recirculation facility further challenge the traditional farming methods by keeping the fish longer in fresh and brakkish water. The main goal of this project will be to ensure that Skretting has highly competitive future feeds for salmon. The research will allow improvement of feeds for freshwater and saltwater recirculation facilities. Within all feed concepts we will focus on developing sustainable feeds.
