The human became an indoor being. On average, 90% of a person's time is spent indoors. The quality of the air is an important factor for one's health and well-being. The indoor air contains elements that are unhealthy and in some cases deadly. Indoor air pollutants includes radon gas, carbon dioxide, volatile organic compounds, particullate matters,etc. Further, the indoor air quallity creates conditions for mould growth and virus propagation. Airthings AS R&D focused in developing a Indoor Air Quality platform with the aim of helping to improve the health and well-being of people at home and at work. The on-going R&D aims to develop sensors with personalised insights delivered by Apps for people at home and at work. The main activities includes development of low power wireless sensors for homes and buildings; data agregation in the Cloud to deliver personalized insights about the health of the indoor air; and insights and control to energy consumption reduction in commercial buildings. Main R&D challenges are low power and accurate sensors; sensor-Cloud IoT data transfers; Cloud data agregation and analysis using AI and machine learning; personalized insights delivered by an affordable and intuitive platform.
