New pollen sensor

In Europe there are about 400 stations carrying out pollen monitoring all covering region of 50-200 km2. The drawbacks of this current situation are that rapid, detailed, precise and accurate information about the exposure of allergenic pollen is not available, which can give unnecessarily problems for people with pollen allergy. The PS4people project seeks to overcome this problem by doing the following: - Develop a new pollen sensor providing real-time availability of pollen - Increase the count frequency, thus allowing to follow the fluctuations of pollen concentration occurring during the day and point out to allergic patients the hours of higher stress. - Dramatically increase the number of pollen sensors, and in this better represent the pollen variability of the interested area or zone. - Facilitate the considering of larger counts and improve the accuracy of measurements in case of low concentrations of pollen having high-allergy potential - Produce higher data quality, which in turn relates to higher reproducibility, reduced uncertainty in concentration measurements, higher sensitivity and specificity in the identification of the different pollen types.
