Non-constrained fat application in extruded fish feed

Production of extruded salmon feed is often connected to issues with leakage of fat from within the pellets. This can be reasoned by challenging raw materials in combination with non-optimal processing conditions. With this project we aim to be able to apply the targeted amount of fat onto the extruded feed by optimizing process conditions to adapt towards recipe and raw materials. New analyses and response variables in the process will be developed to enhance the understanding and causality behind the different occurences of fat leaking from the pellets. This allows to build a computational model to optimize oilmix, coating and cooling parameters specifically for each product, as a response to recipe and quality attributes of the raw materials.
