Whereoil is an advanced data integration platform built specifically for the oil and gas industry, designed to connect to several information sources, both structured and unstructured, allowing the extraction of all the content from well log headers, seismic files, Office documents and many other data types. We offer also a robust API that can be used to exchange information efficiently with other applications. Today Whereoil is a mature software solution that has many customers around the world, including the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, which uses it for the Diskos data repository, for the benefit of all the oil companies operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Recently, oil companies have started to become attracted by Cloud Computing, as a mechanism to cut cost and help them focus on their core business, instead of being impeded by IT obstacles. Whereoil has an advantage here, as it can serve as a “bridge” between a possible corporate enterprise storage whilst also sitting on top of the data which has been moved to the cloud, meaning end users will still have only one single point to access all their data. With this project we will update Whereoil to achieve true cloud integration. This will allow our customers to take advantage of the latest deep learning and artificial intelligence technologies, as well as the on-demand compute power that can scale with their needs over time.
