ProDIFF: a laboratory test for subtyping breast-cancer

Breast cancer is a leading cause of death world-wide, in spite of huge improvement in outcomes in recent decades. These improvements stem in no small part from the differentiation of breast cancers by molecular markers that indicate specific therapeutic alternatives. Subtyping has improved treatment outcomes, especially for those that fall into vulnerable subcategories amenable to targeted treatment approaches The primary aim is to reduce breast cancer deaths and the burden of treatment by providing an objective and widely available platform for distinguishing molecular subtypes of the disease. We will develop and verify a concept for measuring the abundance of several molecular markers commonly used to evaluate breast cancers in one test. It will not require microscopic evaluation of histological preparations. A future product based on our concept is expected to enable analysis that cost less than the current standard for distinguishing breast cancer subtypes, because we will not require the special methods for collecting tissue, eliminate costly microscopic evaluation and «bundle» tests currently performed separately.
