The RURITAGE 4 years project is the only project which has been financed with 10 Million Euro, under the H2020 Call: SC5-2016-2017, Topic SC5-21-2016-2017, Innovation Action. The project leader is the University of Bologna, Department of Architecture with a consortium of 40 partners Worldwide, coming from 14 EU countries, Iceland, Norway, Turkey and 3 south American countries. RURITAGE has identified 6 Systemic Innovation Areas- SIAs (pilgrimages; sustainable local food production; migration; art and festivals; resilience; and integrated landscape management) which, integrated with cross-cutting themes, showcase heritage potential as a powerful engine for economic, social and environmental development of rural areas. The knowledge built in 14 Role Models (RMs) and digested within the project, will be transferred to 6 Replicators (Rs) across Europe. Through a multilevel and multidirectional process of knowledge transfer, RMs will mentor and support the Replicators in the development and implementation of their strategies and, at the same time, will further increase their knowledge and capacities. Magma Geopark has been selected as Replicator in the sustainable local food productions thank to the GEOfood project.(www.geofood.no) . To be part of the most prestigious European Research Programme represents for Magma Geopark a huge satisfaction and guarantee economic resources and international visibility for next 4 years. In particular Magma will get support from Role models in developing the sustainable food production, strengthening the GEOfood brand, setting up one tailored marketing strategy for local products. At the same time, Magma will have the opportunity to mutually exchange tips on the implementation, good practices already implemented, and further experience to be shared also with Role Models from other SIAs. The project will develop the Rural Regeneration Plan which will define actions in each of the SIAs.
