The offshore aquaculture market in Norway is evolving at great speed, taking lessons from both the offshore O&G sector and the offshore renewables sector to ascertain what is the most efficient and practical development path. The Bruce Booster project represents a concrete effort to develop, adapt and bring novel anchor technology to large-scale aquaculture operations - increasing the performance of the mooring system whilst reducing costs at the same time. Experimental prototypes exist for O&G applications, but physical dimensions, including for the anchor chains, need to be re-designed, adapted and adjusted. Offshore testing is also required to validate a fit for purpose solution. Combining technical expertise with offshore field experience separates InterMoor from other contractors or engineering firms. Complete solutions are adapted to individual needs and made available for rental and/or sale. The company continues to focus on innovation as a means to differentiate from the competition. InterMoor realizes both direct benefits and strategic value through the Bruce Booster project. The R&D effort is seen as a means to diversify future income streams with applications across the "ocean space". Additional benefits are sought in the interaction with owners, partners and in adjusting to the demands of the aquaculture industry.
