Autonomous condition monitoring for hydraulic systems

Hydraulic systems are common in oil & gas, marine and other heavy industries for operating equipment such as winches, cranes, oil & gas top drives etc.. A failure in these systems, caused by loss of pressure or broken components, can lead to expensive repairs and loss of production. This project intends to develop an autonomous condition monitoring solution for hydraulic systems that can detect faults at early stages and provides maintenance decision support. The system will consist of several sensors monitoring pressure, temperature, vibrations, oil quality, flow etc and make intelligent decisions about the overall health of the asset. Machine Prognostics today provides an automated diagnostics system that can simultaneously monitor several rotating machineries such as electrical motors, bearings, gearboxes etc. and provide a system-level view to the operator on the overall health of their assets. This solution is a step ahead of the competition in terms of fully removing human intervention. The addition of hydraulic systems monitoring will significantly improve the coverage of critical systems and will be a step forward in realising health-aware assets.
