Long term effects of immuntherapy against cancer

UV1 is a peptide cancer vaccine directed against telomerase, a target present in 90% of cancers. UV1 may be used alone or in combination with an immunomodulator, and may potentially be applied in several cancer subgroups. The clinical benefits of immunotherapy are often seen relatively long after start of treatment, compared to other types of therapies such as chemotherapy. It is suggested that cancer vaccines can induce long lasting specific immune responses that may result in lasting clinical benefits. The current project aims to invetigate this through a follow-up clinical trial to acquire and analyze clinical and immunological efficacy data in patients that have participated in three clinical trials conducted at Oslo University Hospital.
