Offentlig prosjektsammendrag
Industry is migrating to modular information architectures and is investing in automating transactions among project participants, both internally across a company and externally among companies and supporting supply chains. Increasing digitalization increases the need for digital archives significantly. Thus, there is a general need for tools, methods, and guidelines for improving and automating communications, collaboration and archiving of engineering data. Currently it is still difficult for software users to take ownership of their data; user data are most often tightly linked to the tools that they were generated in. This should not and need not be so. Users should have unlimited access to their data. This would ease considerably the exchange of data among heterogeneous systems and the merging of data from different sources, which today are highly resource consuming challenges because data are stored in proprietary formats. To cope with the heterogeneous nature of the software environment in industry, engineering data representations have been standardized in ISO/TC 184/SC 4, the ISO sub-committee for "Industrial Data", over the last 25 years. The resulting standards cover the information requirements for a wide range of industries including shipbuilding, oil and gas, process, aerospace, automotive, and built environment and are successfully used. However, industry currently meets the following challenges: - Product data are not only exchanged, but need to be integrated across product domains and lifecycle phases; - Complex exchange scenarios with Technical Data Packages (TDP) require new data management solutions; - Product data are extended to include IoT (Internet of Things) data; - STEP standards are ahead of a major upgrade; - Privacy and confidentiality of data are under threat; - Size of managed product data becomes increasingly big. Jotne EPM Technology is provider of STEP standards software and will address these challenges in this project.
