Offentlig prosjektsammendrag
Every data center has an administrator team and tools to automate, manage and secure its many servers. In IoT installations millions of distributed embedded Linux units (which in essence are small servers) are deployed in the wild without any security or management concepts. This often causes severe problems such as DDoS, companies being hacked, outdated configuration or a very expensive update process. Therefore XUDA AS has developed devctrl.io, an embedded Linux automation, provisioning and security solution for the Internet of Things. It allows to manage a large number of distributed devices from a central tool making it easy, secure and cost efficient to apply the same level of security as with traditional servers. The tool does not need any development process and can be deployed both to new and legacy IoT installations allowing a co-existence of new and legacy solutions in smart city, smart building, industry 4.0 or smart farming context. By using advanced machine learning and anomaly detection techniques we can monitor the behaviour of IoT devices and warn proactively if failure is imminent or intrusion attempts are likely. Through inventory discovery of installed libraries we can pro-actively warn if security threats are registered for any of the used libraries and recommend a new and secure version of the library which can be updated through the automation in devctrl.io.
