Low frequency behavior of electrolytic capacitors

EMGS is the market leader within marine controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) surveying. As part of a long time development project in cooperation with skattefunn, DEMO2000 and industry partners, EMGS successfully developed the next generation CSEM source system. This system is a order of magnitude more powerful than other deep towed CSEM sources. A significant challenge in this project has been development of DC-link capacitors capable of withstanding the high ambient at up to 4000 m water depth. This project aims at significantly increase the signal bandwidth by gaining more knowledge on the electrical properties of capacitors at ultra low frequencies. If successful, EMGS will be able to significantly increase the bandwidth of the next generation CSEM source system. Potentially significantly improve the ability to image challenging oil and gas reservoirs.
