High seas fishing, production, logistics and sale of live Arctic Ocean shrimps at industrial scale

The project is driven by the aspiration to develop live shrimp fishing with pots in high seas and further value creation by processing live shrimps on shore. The project comprises the following: new fishing gears and fishing techniques, employment of new technologies and equipment to provide live shrimp deliveries to onshore production facilities (transportation systems, air and fresh refrigerated water supplies during sea trips), refurbishment of the factory’s live storage facility, adjustment and upgrading of the processing equipment (cooking, freezing, packaging), know-how creation in live shrimp transportation within territory of Northern Europe and further tests with shipments to considerably more distant destinations like Japan, South Korea, China. So far live Northern Shrimp (Pandalus Borealis) at industrial scale has never been delivered to on-shore processing facilities in Norway or Scandinavia in general, or elsewhere, with a very small exception in Japan where it is still very different due to volumes, climate, distances and other nuances in final product arrangement. Such product is expected to have huge positive effect on export of Norwegian seafood to overseas markets. The project is designed to cover all parts of the process, from fishing operations through factory processing/storage to transportation and sale to a customer. With these new know-hows and technologies in place, the project reaches out for its ultimate goal that is to develop new product of great significance for Norwegian seafood market and export.
