Salmon feed development towards optimal performance

Salmon farming is probably one of the most developed industry within the Aquaculture business and so are the feeds produce it for the salmon. The level of investment and effort put in this industry over the last decades has resulted on the production of feeds that are highly nutritious, cost efficient, more sustainable and also support the health status of the fish optimizing their performance. However, there is still a scope for improvement on those feeds that can only be achieve increasing the knowledge on the optimization of the nutritional content of the feeds to the real needs of the salmon at different seasons and sizes. This project will increase the knowledge on the optimization of the balance between protein and fat and the encouragement of appetite in certain seasons, and how to boost the diets with functional additives that might improve the health status of the fish. In addition, it will also be focus on the improvement of fat transport process in salmon feeds through the use of different additives already present in the market.
