The projected increase in the incidence of dementia, and Alzheimers disease in particular, is widely being viewed as a crisis. Prevalence of Alzheimers disease is expected to more than triple from 2012 to 2050, rising to over 100 million. Currently, each individual requires several visits to multiple physicians over a period of years to reach a diagnosis. One of the problems is that current diagnostic protocols are very laborious and expensive. There is a desperate need for diagnostic tools that are more effective and have a lower cost. Mentis Cura is responding to this need with Sigla 3.0 - a simple, yet powerful system that provides a quantitative measure of brain activity. Using a five-minute brain scan (electroencephalogram, or EEG), Sigla produces a quantitative report that a clinician can use to support their differential dementia diagnosis. In addition, the company is developing a new product, Sigla DLB-AD, which is focused on differentiating two of the most prevalent types of dementia: Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB), and Alzheimer's Dementia (AD).
