The aim of the project is to develop and implement a subsurface server, making seismic data available in a centralized repository in the cloud for real time processing and storage of data for all platforms and mobile devices. Today, subsurface data is gathered offshore by boat, then shipped onshore for further sequential processing. We see that the life-cycle of the subsurface data management from acquisition to distribution and use has several challenges that results in low productivity and high costs: - Time consuming and long processing cycles - Huge volumes of data makes it hard to distribute and access - Specialized software packages and workstations are required to access and view the data - Expert users required to operate the specialized tools - Difficult to share and collaborate around decision making based on the data - If missing or corrupt data is uncovered during the processing stage, conducting new surveys are time consuming and expensive The result of this project will enable survey vessels to present and visualize the subsurface data in 2D/3D while the survey is being conducted, thus enabling rapid corrections underway. This will reduce the considerable expenses involved in undertaking a new survey, and it will allow decision makers to assess the data at an earliest possible stage in the acquisition process.
