Portable point-of-care immunoassay platform for instant veterinarian diagnosis

The project intends to develop a series of veterinarian POC tests (VetPOC tests) based on an in-house patent-applied nanotech platform. The VetPOC tests are considered major improvements of already existing products that are based on costly and time-consuming platforms. Each VetPOC immunoassay product will be unique by targeting species-specific biomarkers. The generation of species-specific antibodies will be based on an already established in-house expertise in generating custom chicken antibodies for the human diagnostic industry. Our first POC product against an animal disease biomarker is to be launched in 2018. This project intends to provide the vets with a unique portfolio of tests, not yet available on the animal point-of-care market that will both confirm an unhealthy status of the animal as well as aiding in pinpointing which organ that may be affected. We predict that our series of VetPOC tests will be very attractive for the vet. market as they are quantitative, portable, robust, rapid, easy-to-use, and cost-effective and that the results will allow for immediate incorporation into the patients journal through wireless transmission technology. The POC test market has not yet been embraced by vets as the central labs provide them with an overall better service. By giving vets an opportunity for an affordable portfolio of quantitative POC tests, all run on the same technological platform, we are confident that our product series will gain rapid acceptance in the vet field as there is an enormous pressure to develop POC tests with the key features: rapid, portable, robust, cost-effective and most importantly quantitative, that can be applied in-clinic and in-field. Our first products will target known biomarkers of health problems of dogs, cats and horses. After launching our first VetPOc products we intend, in dialogue with animal practice clinics, to expand the series of VetPOC tests making up a comprehensive portfolio adapted to the markets need.
